In a move set to provide economic relief for drivers in the United Arab Emirates, the government has announced a noteworthy drop in fuel prices for July. This adjustment comes after a period of escalating costs that were largely influenced by earlier global oil market disruptions. The UAE’s Fuel Price Committee has reduced prices across all fuel types, including Super 98, Special 95, E-Plus, and diesel, marking the first decline in monthly prices since February. This change is attributed to the decrease in global crude oil prices as regional supply conditions have improved.
Motorists will now pay Dh3.40 per litre for Super 98 petrol, a reduction from its previous price of Dh3.95. Similarly, the cost of Special 95 and E-Plus petrol has been reduced by more than 50 fils per litre. The most significant price cut is seen in diesel, which has dropped by 73 fils to Dh3.60 per litre. These reductions follow a period in June when global oil prices began to decrease, driven by a reduction in fears about long-term disruptions in shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, coupled with successful diplomatic efforts that have stabilized the situation.
Although fuel prices in the UAE remain higher compared to earlier in the year, this latest adjustment for July is expected to ease the financial pressure on commuters and families. Analysts highlight that the future trajectory of fuel prices will depend heavily on the stability of geopolitical tensions and the ongoing recovery of global oil supply chains.
These developments come as Brent crude oil prices have almost returned to levels seen before the recent conflicts, signaling a more positive outlook for the global oil market. The July price cut is a welcome change for many UAE residents who have been grappling with increased living costs amid the broader economic impacts of fluctuating oil prices worldwide.
