The United Arab Emirates is bracing for a significant spike in temperatures this week, with forecasts indicating that some areas within Abu Dhabi could experience scorching highs of up to 48°C. This prediction comes as the National Centre of Meteorology outlines its expectations for the week ahead.
Thursday is anticipated to be the hottest day, particularly in parts of Abu Dhabi emirate such as Mezaira, Gasyoura, and Al Quaa, where temperatures might soar to 48°C. Meanwhile, the capital city of Abu Dhabi itself is expected to see the mercury climb to around 43°C.
In contrast, Dubai is likely to remain slightly cooler, with the forecast suggesting a peak temperature of 40°C on the same day. This difference highlights the variability in weather conditions across the UAE, even as the entire region prepares for intense summer heat.
The anticipated rise in temperatures follows a spring season that was relatively mild but marked by spells of unsettled weather. As the weeks have progressed, there has been a noticeable trend of temperatures consistently surpassing 40°C in several areas throughout the country, heralding the onset of summer.
June 21 marks the official start of the summer season in the Northern Hemisphere for the UAE, and meteorologists predict that the hot weather will persist across the region in the weeks to come, reinforcing the typical summer climate of the area.
