In response to a tragic shooting at Hamoud Church in Jordan’s Karak Governorate, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan has called for intensified efforts to combat extremism as a means to eradicate terrorism and ensure regional security. The attack, which resulted in multiple deaths and injuries, has been condemned by the UAE as a threat to public safety and regional stability.

Sheikh Abdullah, in a statement shared on his official X account, emphasized that tackling extremist ideologies is crucial alongside counterterrorism measures to effectively address the root causes of violence. He argued that focusing solely on fighting terrorism without confronting the underlying extremist beliefs would be insufficient in maintaining long-term peace and security.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs echoed this sentiment, expressing solidarity with Jordan and underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts to prevent extremist violence. The Ministry reiterated the UAE’s stance against terrorism, extremism, and all forms of violence that disrupt societal harmony.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by nations in addressing both the manifestations and underlying causes of terrorism. Sheikh Abdullah’s remarks underscore a broader call for a comprehensive strategy that integrates counterterrorism operations with initiatives aimed at countering extremist ideologies.
