by admin477351

Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, has arrived in Ottawa to embark on an official visit aimed at strengthening the ties between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Canada. The visit focuses on enhancing bilateral relations and expanding strategic cooperation across various sectors.

During his stay, Sheikh Khaled is scheduled to meet with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to explore opportunities for deepening economic ties, boosting investments, and advancing cooperation in key sectors. This dialogue is part of ongoing efforts to build on the existing partnership between the UAE and Canada, with both nations committed to sustainable economic growth and shared prosperity.

Accompanying the Crown Prince is a senior UAE delegation, including notable figures such as Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology; Reem Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, Minister of Foreign Trade; and Mohamed Alsuwaidi, Minister of Investment. The visit follows recent high-level discussions between UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Prime Minister Carney, emphasizing the importance of economic and technological collaboration.

A significant milestone in the UAE-Canada relationship was the finalization of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in July 2026. This agreement aims to reduce trade barriers and improve market access for goods, services, and investments, thereby opening new opportunities for businesses in both countries. The partnership supports cooperation across several strategic industries, including energy, mining, artificial intelligence, infrastructure, and ports.

Canada’s largest export market in the Middle East is the UAE, underlining the importance of this relationship in Canada’s regional trade strategy. Both countries are keen on expanding commercial opportunities and attracting investment while enhancing cooperation in advanced technologies and other emerging industries.

Sheikh Khaled’s visit to Canada comes after his recent official trip to Greece, where discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding economic cooperation. The UAE also announced plans for an additional €15 billion investment in Greece as part of a joint initiative. These international engagements underscore the UAE’s broader strategy to fortify strategic partnerships, broaden global investment opportunities, and deepen economic cooperation with key partners worldwide.
