Dubai is set for a major economic boost with the announcement of a Dh2.1 trillion project pipeline by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Ruler of Dubai. This extensive portfolio covers key sectors such as real estate, transport, aviation, energy, and infrastructure, aiming to strengthen Dubai’s status as a global business hub. The announcement was made at the Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Forum held at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Real estate development dominates the investment plan, with Dh1.1 trillion earmarked through 2030. This includes the creation of approximately 350,000 residential units to address the growing population and housing demand in the emirate. Sheikh Mohammed described these initiatives as building a “city within a city,” with more projects anticipated to be unveiled.

The aviation sector is also a focal point, with significant investments planned. Dh128 billion is allocated for Al Maktoum International Airport, aiming to expand its capacity to accommodate up to 260 million passengers annually. Additionally, Dh328 billion will be invested in expanding the fleets of Emirates and flydubai, while Dh18.7 billion is set aside for a new Emirates engineering and maintenance complex.

Infrastructure enhancements include Dh100 billion for road improvements and the development of the Dubai Metro Blue and Gold lines. Furthermore, Dh151 billion is designated for expanding electricity and water networks, and Dh80 billion will go towards the Dubai Strategic Sewerage Tunnels system.

In the financial sector, Dubai plans to invest Dh100 billion in the second phase of the Dubai International Financial Centre, which will further bolster its financial services and international business infrastructure. Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the importance of long-term planning and leadership in driving future growth and development.

These ambitious projects reflect Dubai’s strategy to enhance its housing, transport, and essential services while promoting economic diversification and attracting international investment. The comprehensive investment plan underscores a commitment to developing infrastructure that anticipates future demand and supports the emirate’s continued growth as a leading global city.
