As the global tourism industry seeks to rebound from recent disruptions, New Zealand has taken a significant step by easing its travel advisory for the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The advisory has been downgraded from Level 3, which advised against non-essential travel, to Level 2, encouraging travelers to exercise increased caution. This change comes amid the UAE’s efforts to revitalize its tourism sector, which has shown signs of recovery after being affected by regional conflicts.
The updated guidance from New Zealand allows its citizens to travel to or transit through the UAE, provided they remain vigilant and adhere to instructions from local authorities due to the fluctuating security conditions. Richard Kay, New Zealand’s Ambassador to the UAE, expressed his approval of the revised advisory, noting that it enables New Zealanders to once again consider travel to the Gulf nation.
Dubai, a major hub for international tourism within the UAE, has been witnessing a positive trend in visitor numbers. In August, the city welcomed 869,000 international overnight visitors, marking the highest monthly figure since February. Additionally, hotel occupancy rates in Dubai rose significantly, reaching 66 percent in August, compared to 36 percent in March. These figures underscore the city’s ongoing recovery efforts in the tourism sector.
The UAE is actively working to have similar travel warnings lifted by other countries, aiming to bolster its tourism and aviation industries further. While several nations have already relaxed their advisories, some continue to recommend caution or advise against non-essential travel to the region.
