July Sees 28.8% Rise in Arab Stock Trading Volume Amid Value Drop.

by admin477351

In July, Arab stock markets experienced a notable surge in trading activity, with the volume of shares traded jumping by 28.82% compared to the previous month. This uptick brought the total trading volume to an impressive 261.86 billion shares, significantly higher than the 203.27 billion shares recorded in June. The increase in trading volume was primarily driven by heightened activity on the Iraq Stock Exchange, followed closely by Egypt’s market.

Despite this surge in trading activity, the overall value of transactions experienced a downturn, falling by 16.82% to $90.24 billion from $108.48 billion in June. The decline in transaction value was observed across several key markets, including those in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Kuwait. This divergence between trading volume and transaction value highlights a complex market environment where increased activity doesn’t necessarily translate to higher transaction values.

The performance of regional stock markets showed mixed results throughout the month. Notably, Egypt’s EGX30 index stood out as a strong performer, posting a gain of 5.85%. This positive movement contrasted with the varied performances of other regional exchanges, some of which also recorded gains during this period. These mixed results reflect the diverse economic and market conditions affecting Arab stock exchanges.

Despite the fluctuations in transaction value and mixed market performances, the combined market capitalization of Arab stock exchanges remained relatively stable. It saw a slight increase of 0.06%, bringing the total market capitalization to approximately $4.31 trillion. This modest rise in market capitalization underscores the resilience of the region’s equity markets amid a challenging trading environment.

The latest figures reveal a dynamic trading landscape across Arab stock markets, characterized by increased trading volumes despite the dip in transaction values. The mixed performance of major equity markets in the region continues to illustrate the complex interplay of economic factors influencing investor behavior.
